About ModOp Design

We formed ModOp Design in 2010 after remodeling our own home, a 1920’s bungalow in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles. While enjoying living in our newly re-done house, we decided to carry over what we learned by renovating a hilltop bungalow in Silver Lake, the first of over a dozen and counting home re-inventions.

We often get asked where we came up with the name, ModOp Design. ModOp is a word play on Modus Operandi or Latin for “Method of Operation”. Our M.O. is to respect & restore the original architectural bones, while modernizing the house for the future. We strive to create an aesthetically pleasing, fully functional, and sustainable living environment for homeowners.

We believe in bringing the glory and beauty back to homes with history. We strive to have clients who appreciate living in a space with soul, character and charm. Homes that were built 50-100 years ago have often been neglected and lose much of their livability as they deteriorate. Our goal is regain the soul, reveal the charm, and update them from the inside out so they are ready for the next 100 years.
